National Honor Society
NHS (National Honor Society) is a student led organization focused on service, character, leadership, and scholarship. At Kennedy, the NHS organization is leading the senior service project initiative.
The Class of 2016 is devoting a year of service towards a children's charity called Variety, and helping them bring a fully ADA Accessible play ground to Noelridge Park. The senior class is working closely with the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation department, and the Executive Director of Variety, Keeley Smith. Together, they are raising awareness and raising funds to help bring this amazing addition to the community.
The goals for the Class of 2016 are to unite as a class, raise funds, make connections, become leaders, and help create something that will have a lasting positive impact in the community. By working with Variety, seniors will help create a space where kids of all abilities can come together and play. This spirit of inclusiveness is very strong at Kennedy, and it is one that the senior class is excited to bring to Cedar Rapids.
